About Me

Roda Ali

You Deserve to Feel Great. I’m Here to Help.

Counselling can help us by providing a safe, secure, confidential, impartial space to explore our feelings and behavioural patterns that might be the causes of distress, therefore facilitating healthy and effective ways of making changes in our lives.

My Background

I am a qualified, ‘integrative therapist’ and a member/ registered with BACP.
I have extensive experience with many ‘successful years’ of working in this field.

My training enables me to draw on several theoretical and methods/ ideas of working to find the best fit for each of my clients, as each clients’ needs are unique to them.

No one size fits all, and the counselling you require will be explored with ‘your needs’ being integral to the sessions.

My Approach & Philosophy

There are many ways of approaching counselling, and my main approach is to encourage you to explore your feelings/emotions, discover the underlaying issues if they are not so transparent, and take back control of your thoughts and actions.

I work in a way that both encourages and empowers you to make decisions that work best for you. I always work with what you present and with your ‘best interests’ forming the basis of each counselling session.
‍I will provide you with a supportive, non-judgmental, but challenging environment for you to explore current and past difficulties. I believe this can be achieved by establishing a good relationship in a supportive and safe environment, where you are free to express yourself without fear of reproach, and by working with methods that are most appropriate to a clients’ situation.

open ended counselling, a therapy which proceeds at the client’s own pace. This allows the client time and space to gradually develop insight into the root cause of their concerns. Clients continue in therapy for as long as they want.

Short-Term Counselling:
Short term counselling is a good step for people who do not want to make a long commitment or have an issue to work with such as a relationship difficulties.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
My aim is to offer you a first appointment, known as an assessment session within 1 weeks. However, waiting list and your own availability may vary.
What is an assessment appointment?
The first session of any counselling is an assessment session which lasts for around an hour and a half. During this time, an assessment counsellor will ask certain questions about you and your life. This information helps to make an initial assessment of your circumstances and the type of counselling that would be best suited to your needs.
Will the counsellor give me advice?
As your counsellor, I am not there to give you advice, tell you what to do or judge you in any way. The aim of counselling is to help you come to your own decision(s). Only you know how you feel in any given situation. The counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.
Can I have counselling even though I’m not ill?
You do not have to be in crisis or on the verge of one before choosing to have therapy. Please contact us to see how counselling can help if you are currently struggling to overcome an issue in your life, and you feel that counselling could possibly benefit you right now.
What should I look for in a therapist?

Things to make sure about with any counsellor or therapist you visit are:

  • that they have recognised academic qualifications
  • that they adhere to a professional code of conduct
  • that they have regular, ongoing supervision to ensure safe and ethical practice
  • that they discuss certain issues with you up front before any commitment is made to the sessions including:
  1. their counselling approaches
  2. confidentiality issues
  3. fees
  4. length of sessions
  5. their responsibilities to you
What if I miss a scheduled appointment?
It is essential to the therapy work that you prioritise attending your weekly appointment once you have confirmed it.

Should you need to cancel any appointment, please contact your counsellor or leave a message.
